IDP Signs Cooperation Agreement with University of Ulster

Institution of Disaster Prevention officially signed a partnership agreement on Computer Science and Technology programme with University of Ulster on November 20, 2012. The representatives of both sides, Prof. Liu Chunping, Vice President of IDP, and Prof. Anne Moran, Vice President of University of Ulster, signed the agreement at the signing ceremony on Jordanstown Campus of University of Ulster.

Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate on 3+1 Computer Science and Technology undergraduate programme and Computational Intelligence master programme. Candidates must meet the requirements of English language and prior study before admission. Students who have finished their first three years of the 3+1 programme at IDP, get all credits required and meet the minimum language standard (IELTS speaking and writing band scores of no less than 6, the other two scores of no less than 5.5, or other language certificate at the same level) can apply for a forth year’s study at University of Ulster. And those who have met the graduation requirements will be awarded a diploma. Graduates of IDP and students who have finished the undergraduate programme of University of Ulster can apply for Computational Intelligence master programme on Magee Campus when meeting the language requirements.

University of Ulster, based in Belfast, is the largest and most influential state-run university in Northern Ireland, ranking tenth in UK. The University comprises 6 faculties: Ulster Business School, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Art, Design and the Built Environment, Faculty of Computing and Engineering, Faculty of Life and Health Sciences and Faculty of Social Sciences. University of Ulster has sent delegations to negotiate on partnership on Computer Science and Technology programme in September 2011 and May 2012. Prof. Liu Chunping, Vice President of IDP, and Prof. Feng Jilin, Dean of Department of Disaster Information Engineering, paid a visit to University of Ulster on invitation from November 17 to 22, 2012. During their visit, the two parties negotiated on relevant issues, including training plan, allocation of teaching resources, and cooperation model, and achieved an agreement. The cooperative programme will be officially launched in 2013. Meanwhile, the two sides exchanged ideas extensively on Artificial Intelligence, Massive Data Storage and Processing and Robotechnology.
